The Ask
lululemon needed to go beyond a standard fitness activation to scale up the highly anticipated Summer Sweat Games 2024. They needed to create massive national buzz and activate their community. The challenge was multifaceted: reinforce SSG as a premier community IP centered around "sweat, connect, and fun," while simultaneously shifting the brand's perception from female-dominated to a more gender-balanced audience. They required a highly visible, action-packed event that would attract the general public, engage brand lovers, and authentically showcase the performance capabilities of lululemon products in motion.
The Result
We took over Beijing’s iconic 798 Art District to deliver a vibrant, physical interpretation of the brand's wellness culture. As both a fierce fitness competition and a collective workout initiative, the flagship event drew massive crowds with 12 interactive challenges featuring gamified "sweat stamps," intense team battles, and ambassador-led workouts. At the center of the action, a live symphony orchestra played beside a custom arena inspired by the Bird’s Nest—cleverly merging the Chinese character for music and joy (乐).
Despite the extreme summer heat, 1,765 participants fully embraced the #sweatlife, forming tug-of-war teams and dancing through massive Tabata sessions. The high-energy event successfully captured a broader, balanced audience, drawing in 70 KOLs and 150 media representatives, while a dedicated Douyin livestream broadcasted the national finals to a highly engaged virtual audience.
