The Ask

lululemon needed to level up the Summer Sweat Games into a nationally recognized IP for its fifth year, reinforcing its identity as a gender-balanced, high-performance athletic brand. With traditional gyms taking a backseat to community-driven sports like Hyrox, the brand saw a chance to highlight how moving together boosts mental fulfillment. They also wanted to tastefully embed localization as a cultural approach to fitness. The challenge? Designing an experience that seamlessly bridged the gap between two distinct crowds: committed competitors chasing the podium, and curious passersby eager to break a sweat.

The Result

We helped roll out a multi-tiered competition across 42 cities, mandating a strict 50/50 male-to-female team ratio to ensure the playing field was as inclusive as it was competitive. The campaign culminated in a National Final at Chengdu’s Eastern Suburb Memory, transforming a 1,500+ sqm venue into an interactive "Sweat Avenue." Here, we tastefully embedded localization as a cultural approach to movement, blending functional fitness with local Sichuan traditions—turning everyday elements like carrying poles and Mahjong into clever workout challenges. By balancing serious team competition with accessible public activations, the event drew strong community participation and wrapped up with an appearance by Olympic Gold Medalist Wang Shun.
